September is always a great month for Simon with lots of school visits booked, most of which are straight off of the back of the previous year. This year…well, not so good. All were cancelled or indefinitely postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. Most schools just don’t have the space to fit in a cartoon workshop and all the distancing required. All except Abbotswood Juniors, that is. Simon said:
'They’re a large school with two large halls, so I was able to set up in the sports hall this morning and each of the classes was able to distance themselves safely. I was extremely impressed with the way the staff and children handled every extra step they had to contend with, not least from the Year 3s who up until a few days ago hadn’t even set foot in the school. The teachers were firmly in control and the children were respectful and patient about the laboured process of filing in and out, not too mention all the handwashing.
I go into a fair few schools each year, so I get to see just how much teachers already have on their plates, but seeing them have to juggle this as well, and so competently, was a marvel.'
