Talks & Workshops
"Thanks again for today: you have such a brilliant way with the children and they produced some incredible cartoons as a result of their time with you." Ed Humphries, Abbotswood Junior School
Simon has been giving talks and drawing workshops since his first book was published and over the years has been to myriad schools, libraries, Women's Institutes, U3As, Scouting and Girl Guide groups, Rotary groups and more.
Talks to children are usually coupled with some sort of drawing workshop aimed at boosting the drawing confidence of the attendees and to give them inspiration or direction on a topic, or to help underscore the theme being discussed from one of his books. School visits are typically charged at a half-day and full-day rate and Simon always welcomes the opportunity to sell his books to children, parents and staff.
Talks to adults are usually about how Simon got involved with children's books, charting his course from the Young Enterprise Awards to the current day. If there's an opportunity for Simon to set up a display for potential sales then all the better.
DON'T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT
"Simon's talk about his work and career to our U3A was a real hit with our members. Interesting, enjoyable, well presented and many members found his books would be useful little presents for the grandchildren."
Peter Dudley, Chairman, New Forest Waterside U3A
“Simon has visited our school on several occasions to work with our students. He runs amazing, creative illustration workshops and is really generous, sharing tips and tricks with our students and encouraging them to produce some fantastic work, even in a short period of time. Simon joins us for our Litfest every year and it just wouldn’t be the same without him. The pupils really look forward to his visits – he is a very popular guest."
