I thought I’d show a larger section of picture this time. It’s not the whole picture but hopefully it gives you a better idea of the context the previous snapshots of pages fit within.
Helen Griffiths, the author of Treasure Beyond Measure, has been brilliant about giving me free rein to interpret her words how I choose, so this particular spread has a fun challenge to have. It needed to have zebra, giraffes, lions, cheetah, leopards and tigers all in one picture. That’s a lot of size differences to juggle with. So I decided to lift the point of view high, up with the giraffe’s heads, so we can see what they see, which is an ambush of big cats waiting on the other side of the river (the lions are out of sight, on the far left). The sweep of the river carries your eye from the left-hand giraffes to the right. I’ve also sneaked in a couple of other predators too!
