I did my first booking as cartoonist for a birthday party yesterday, attending Josh's 9th birthday celebrations. Josh's mum had seen me draw made-up creatures at her son's school and suggested it would be nice if the kids at the party could each take home their own beastie, so armed with a selection of pens and some hardback canvases I created a mythical menagerie for each child to keep. Taking turns, each child told me their favourite four animals and I melded them together into something new and unique for them. Kids' parties are a little different to what I usually do, but it seemed to go down well, so would most certainly do it again!
