This third New Forest Friends book looks at the treasured New Forest pony. It's very easy to think of the ponies like the ones you see in fields, and maybe you've even fed such an animal across the fence with a handful of grass. However, in the New Forest the ponies are free to roam pretty much wherever they please, so seldom have to interact with people. The result is that people, be they local or visiting, sometimes make the mistake that the ponies can be approached with ease, but the reality is that it can be distressing for the ponies with obvious results.
