For the third year running I was invited by my local butchers, Sargent's, to create a cartoon scene in the window. Steve Taylor gives me free rein to do what I like, resulting in a mass of turkeys across the glass last year with a Christmas Come Dine With Me title. This year I opted for a slightly more serious message to remind everyone that a butcher is not just for Christmas.
Like any local business, Sargent's thrives on local people using it, and it's a constant battle against the mighty supermarkets. But it's testament to the quality of the meat (much of it locally sourced) and the friendly helpfulness of the staff that sees so many people place their trust in Steve Taylor and the team for that all important festive meal.
It's not too late to get your Christmas order in at Sargent's Butchers in Dibden Purlieu. It's their busiest time of year, culminating in a very frantic but ordered Christmas Eve as customers arrive to collect their beautiful rolled turkeys, whole turkeys, geese and much more besides.
Sargent's can be found in the Merrymeade Parade, Dibden Purlieu or you can visit them online here.
