Just had a wonderful weekend in sunny Somerset with a multitude of cartoonists from the Cartoonists' Club Of Great Britain. We've got caricaturists, gag cartoonists, character designers, cartoon illustrators, strip cartoonists and comic artists as members, but what unites us besides cartoons is that we all work alone, so the club organises social occasions where we can get together, have a drink, a laugh, a drink, do some drawing, and enjoy a drink.
This weekend was our AGM, so we met up in Clevedon for a weekend of cider and cheese, and a spectacular trip on a vintage coach. Above is a photo of some of the attendees on Clevedon Pier. I'd unfortunately stumbled into a hole between the planks so the others kindly assembled around me for the photo.
Below is a shot of the first us arriving back at the coach at Cheddar after our cheese tour and tasting in the village. Both photos are taken by the talented Mr Gerard Whyman, rarely seen in photos because he's usually stood on the other side of the camera, but you can at least see his chortlesome cartoons and amazing drawings of buildings right here.
A splendid weekend, and already looking forward to our next social - a trip the the Private Eye 50th Anniversary Exhibition at the V&A!
