Rather than just offer colouring for the children to do, we launched a colouring competition which proved massively popular with an enormous stack of entries by the end of the day. While the children are busy with the crayons I offer to draw them their favourite animal and this resulted in a multitude of horses, rabbits and cats plus a few more obscure creatures such as a great white shark, a tiger, a lizard and a stegosaurus.
Book sales were up too, with a steady stream of the new book, Charley's Day On The Farm being signed by both myself and Farmer Bryan. The book is a great way for both children and adults to learn about farm life as the story takes in 24 hours when Farmer Bryan's granddaughter pays a visit. Throughout the book are boxed areas that give some facts about that aspect of the farm or its animals, accompanied by a small illustration. It's a genuinely interesting and fun book that will both educate and entertain children, and if you're intrigued then it's available here.
Just about to set off for the final day now, and we're looking at our busiest day yet and a scorcher to boot!
